Not as glamorous as Tokyo and does not attract tourists like Kyoto, Osaka remains an attractive destination when traveling Japan.
If you have a JR “Japan Rail Pass” which gives you unlimited access the japanese train network, Shin-Osaka (the district next to Osaka) makes a very interesting hub which makes Kōbe, Kyoto and other regions worth visiting less than half an hour trip.
More than a hub, Osaka offers less traveled sightseeing spots compared to Kyoto which is just 15 min away by Shinkansen.
Osaka does not fall short on attractiveness and should considered when planning a trip in the Kansai region.
Don’t forget to raise your arms in winning style when taking a picture in front of the famous ‘Glico’ running man.
