30 minutes away by train from Edinburgh’s buzzing Fringe festival, North Berwick has the authentic Scottish flavor of a little quiet town on the sea-shore.
One of the first thing that will attract your attention is an island visible from the edge of the town that looks like its covered with snow. Even if the weather is chilly enough not to swim, snow is not something that you would expect in this region. After investigation and extreme photo zooming that this rock is covered with white feathered seagulls.
Around noon stop at one of the pub at the corner of High street and Quality Street to enjoy ‘doorstoppers’ sandwiches filled with local old cheddar.
On your trip back, enjoy the view of the sea ’til you arrive in Edinburgh for a night at the Fringe.
